What does an officiant do?
Typically, the person who officiates the funeral service will run the order of service. The officiant will gather music to play at the service, read the eulogy and often will say a prayer or present a poem in honor of the individual who passed. They may facilitate funeral rituals, such as a committal, rosary or the scattering of ashes.
