Alix R Rose

Alix Renee Rose (Newport, OR) passed away suddenly in her sleep on September 30, 2022. She leaves behind her infant daughter Shanli Michele Noele (b. August 27), her husband Austin Philbin, her parents Scott and Jennifer Rose, her sister Kara and brother Jack, her cats Duke and Diddy, and many friends and family along the Oregon Coast, in Texas and throughout the country. Alix was born May 27, 1996, in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up in San Antonio. From the beginning she loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors. She spent much time during her childhood visiting in the Texas Hill Country with her grandparents Jack and Pat Stone and their dog Honey. She was out-going and enjoyed being around people, particularly seniors. As a teenager, she both attended and served as a counselor at MO-Ranch Youth Camp in Hunt, TX, not far from her grandparents' home. A bi-lingual student, Alix spent six weeks in Costa Rica on a community service venture. Alix graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 2014 and enrolled in Baylor University, having been awarded the President's Gold Scholarship for academic achievement. After two years of study in Spanish, including a semester abroad in Spain, Alix moved to Oregon where she married Austin in 2017. They lived and worked in Neskowin and Lincoln City before settling in Newport in 2019. Alix's enjoyment of the outdoors grew in the great Northwest. She loved the Pacific Coast weather and spent many hours walking on the beach with Austin and her dog, King. She also enjoyed playing games, camping and socializing with many new friends. In 2021, Alix enrolled in Portland State University seeking to complete her degree, but at the time of her death she had devoted her energy to caring for her newborn daughter. Alix will be remembered for her quick mind, her confident nature, her fierce loyalty to her friends and her beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that expressions of sympathy be made through donations in Alix's memory to the Animal Defense League in San Antonio or the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Newport, OR.
