Edith Edge

In Loving Memory Edith Mae Edge November 23, 1939 - August 30th, 2023 Edith Edge was born in Crawfordsville, OR November 23, 1939 to Harvey Arthur and Myrtle Lucinda Weed. Both her parents made their choice to serve God when their children were young. Edith made her choice to serve God when she was in high school. She passed away from her fight with lung and heart issues on August 30th, 2023 at her home with Robert Edge in Newport. She grew up on the family farm (quarter section) where they grew grain, and raised various farm animals. She graduated from Sweet Home High School. She married Russell Walls January 2nd, 1959 thru his death in 2001. Russell and Edith spent their first 2 of years in West Germany during his time in the Service. She was also raised by her aunt, dad's sister, Elsie Robnett, off and on throughout the years as a young child due to health issues - the bone complications osteomyelitis or osteoporosis. Edith worked at a Private girls school in Vermont for a short time before Edith joined Russell in Germany. Her two daughters were born in Germany; Sharon Kelly (Walls) and Jennise Greenfield (Walls). They went by boat from Germany to Oregon, where their third child, Arthur was born. They then moved to Newport for a short time, where she enjoyed taking her kids to the beach. Russell and Edith settled in Toledo, Oregon in mid-1960’s. Edith wanted her kids to know about homemaking and got involved in 4-H. Edith was a 4-H food preservation leader. She had her children also in cooking, knitting and rabbits and sewing 4-H clubs. She loved spending time with her kids and was always very supportive of their school sports Edith also worked as a Fuller-Brush representative and helped out with the County Elections for many years. In 1995, Russell and Edith from the country to live in their new home located in Toledo. Edith and Robert Edge were married in 2004, where she there lived in his home until her death. It was her desire to die at home if it was possible at all. They married three years after her first husband died and gained more family: Wanda Cassetty (husband Joe, children; Samantha and Rose) and Cyndie Lindbaugh. Edith loved to travel and enjoyed her trips with Bob to Australia, New Zealand, and Alaska and to Edith’s family home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Edith loved to tell the story of how her father came over in a covered wagon. They enjoyed taking short little trips to explore through the countryside. Edith was the second oldest of five children. She was preceded by her sister Jeanie Holdorf and brother Alvin Weed preceded her in death. She left behind her three children, Sharon Kelly (Ivan), Jennise Greenfield (Herb), and Art Walls (Dianna). She was able to watch her grandchildren Irene Barajas and Harry Greenfield grow up and she enjoyed visiting and watching her great grandchildren (4). Edith is survived by her sisters Lucille Peña and Martha Mickenham. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So, he closed your weary eyelids And whispered, “Peace be Thine”. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.
