She was born on June 14, 1949, in New York City, New York, to Andrew and Sophia Dragos. Mary grew up surrounded by the love of her family and carried those early bonds with her throughout her life. She was a cherished sister to Andy, Jim, Linda, Leona, and Richard, and she remained close to her family in spirit and in heart throughout the years. Mary lived a life defined by love and service. She was the beloved wife of Joel Justus, and together they shared a marriage built on companionship, loyalty, and enduring affection. She was a devoted mother to her son Richard and his wife Jennifer, and to her daughter Cindy. Mary found great joy in her role as grandmother to Julia, Richie, and Hayden, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave them her warmth, humor, and generous heart in countless ways. A woman of deep faith, Mary was Catholic and carried her beliefs quietly and sincerely through the way she lived each day. Her life reflected compassion, patience, and a genuine concern for others. Those who knew her will remember her as loving, funny, and generous, with a spirit that could brighten a room and a presence that brought comfort to those around her. Mary devoted much of her working life to healthcare, retiring from Samaritan Hospital after 40 years of service. Her career reflected her commitment to helping others, and she was respected for her dedication, reliability, and care. Over four decades, she contributed faithfully to the well-being of countless people, and her work left a lasting impression on colleagues and those she served. She approached her responsibilities with professionalism and heart, and her long career stood as a testament to her character. Outside of work, Mary enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life rich and meaningful. She loved reading mystery and crime novels, and she especially enjoyed the works of her favorite author, Heather Graham. She also loved gardening, where she found peace and satisfaction in tending to the beauty around her. Orchids and calla lilies were among her favorite plants, and she especially loved the color purple. These interests brought her joy and reflected her appreciation for beauty, curiosity, and quiet moments of reflection. Mary’s life was one of devotion to family, faith, and service. She will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, and the way she made others feel valued and loved. Her family and friends will carry forward the memory of her gentle strength and her generous heart. Though her absence leaves a deep sadness, the love she shared and the example she set will remain with those who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Joel Justus; her son Richard's wife, Jennifer; her daughter, Cindy; her grandchildren, Julia, Richie, and Hayden; and her siblings, Leona, and Richard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Sophia Dragos, her siblings Andy, Jim, Linda, and her Beloved son Richard. Mary Justus will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
