Twylla (Twy) Hoch

It is with sad heart that we share the passing of Twylla Hoch, age 83, on November 24, 2021. Twy was born March 22, 1938, at the old hospital on the hill, in Waldport, Oregon, to Walter and Florence (Payne) Hallowell. Twylla was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Florence Hallowell. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Hoch. Children - Heidi & Bryan Stout, Tom Hoch and Dick & Tina Hoch; Grandchildren - Haylee Nicholson, Kylee Travis, Kurtis Hoch, Amanda Garrison, Conner Hoch and Case Hoch; Sister - Karolee (Kay) Miller; Nephew - Doug MacDuffee; and Niece - Trudy Branstiter. Twy was raised in North Beaver Creek area of Seal Rock, Oregon. Going to school in Waldport, Twy grew up taking part in 4-H and baton twirling with the Waldport Shamrocketts traveling for competitions. After graduation from Waldport High School in 1956, Twy traveled to Frankfurt, Germany to marry her high school sweetheart Charles Hoch, who was serving in the U.S. Army. They lived in Germany for 2 years, then returned to Oregon to settle in Seal Rock. Twy loved her time in Germany and was able to travel back in 1989, with her close friend Jan Hagemeister. Twy was a 4-H leader to many, including her Children and Grandchildren. She helped yearly with the Lincoln County Fair and was the winner of the Lincoln County Fair Homemaker of the Year multiple times. She was very involved with Home Extension. She volunteered many hours in the Home Economics class at Waldport High School and was always on board to be a chaperone for her Grandchildren's school functions and field trips. Twy took quilt making classes, then shared her learned knowledge with hundreds in Waldport for many years. Her LOVE of quilting was EXTREME... she loved her Fridays at Bayshore, quilting with cherished friends, being a member of the Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild, taking part in the Guilds annual quilt shows, creating and presenting Veterans quilts, trips to Sister's, Oregon for the quilt show and classes. Traveling to Bandon and Silverton, Oregon for group quilting and traveling as far as Paducah, Kentucky for the annual quilt show. Per her Family's request there will be no memorial service. For those that wish to donate in her name, we ask that you make a donation of yourself. If you knew Mom well, you would know she didn't half-way do any thing. She always gave 100% PLUS!!! Think to yourself, "What would Twy have done...?"
