Clarence "Vern" Vernon Morris

March 9, 1937 ~ October 31, 2019 (age 82)

Vern Morris, 82, passed away on his favorite holiday, Halloween, 2019.  He was born in Portland, Oregon to Clarence and Violet Helen (Fountain)  Morris.  Vern was a resident of the Oregon Coast for many, many years.  He worked at KNPT/KYTE radio in sales and loved making "Howdy" calls to his clients just to check-in and find out what was going on.  Before that he sold cars with Joe Statz at Surfside Motors in Newport.  Vern was known for his perfectly combed snow white hair.  But he was more than that.

Vern served in the National Guard.  He loved cars and sold for dealerships in Portland and Grants Pass.  He and his wife Sherry (Sturges) owned a seafood shop in Grants Pass, Oregon.  They eventually ended up on the Oregon Coast and that is where they stayed, spending time mostly in Lincoln County, but many weekends in their get-away at Lakeside, Oregon with their beloved dog Mollie.  Vern and Sherry fostered several children over their years until Sherry's health failed.

Vern loved the coast and people.  Even though he was over 80 years old, he continued to work because the social interaction and the personal connection he had with people energized him every single day.  Instead of email, Vern preferred to get in his car and come see you or make a phone call. He took pride in the personal relationships he had with people.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sherry.  He is survived by his 3 children; Michelle, Diane and Eric.

Per his wish, no services are planned. Per his wish, you are welcomed to raise a glass of wine, or scotch on the rocks in his memory.
