It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of a great woman. Liz’s courageous battle with cancer ended on October 25th, 2 days after her 73rd birthday. She was in her home, surrounded by her family.
Liz was born October 23, 1946 to Clark and Eva John in Toledo, Oregon. She lived in the area throughout her life and Siletz is where she resided at the time of her passing.
For 25 years Liz worked in the Fish Processing industry on the Newport Bayfront. She had been retired for the last 20 years. Liz loved her family like no other, they are her rocks. She cherished spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed beading, gardening, and going to elders activities. Her culture and the history of the Siletz Tribe was very meaningful to Liz. She participated in all things that kept her traditions alive.
Liz had two very dear cousin/sisters, Kristi Martin-Bayya and Bonnie Petersen. Each one had a unique bond with Liz from weekend getaways to date nights. The three had many adventures throughout Liz’s life.
She is survived by her brothers David and Ron John and sister Josephine John, her two daughters Anna and Delina (Shane) 4 grandchildren, Darian, Daniel (Alondra), Zoey, and Zaiden; 2 great-grandchildren Amelia, and Rayne, along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Clark and Eva, her brothers, Jr, Johnnie, LeRoy, Lyndsey, and her sister Gylene.
Please join us in celebrating our momma’s life Saturday November 2nd at 2:30 pm at the Siletz Tribal Community Center.
