Carol June Jones

Carol June Jones June 14, 1928 - April 13, 2023 Carol passed away on April 13, 2023 at South Beach Memory Care. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Jones, son Dean Jones, and son-in-law Jeff Corum. Carol lived her life with grace and patience. She was a strong Christian and set an example for her family and friends. Carol was born June 14th, 1928, at home in Grandview, Washington. She married Forrest Jones on December 15, 1946. Forrest brightened Carol’s life with his contagious smile and sparkling blue eyes. They took immense pride in their children and grandchildren. They set the example of a strong work ethic and responsibility to care for others. The couple farmed in Mabton Washington and Condon Oregon before moving to Newport in 1969 after purchasing the A&W restaurant. Many young people in Newport had their first job working for Mr. and Mrs. J. Carol was a talented seamstress and cook and shared those skills in the community by being a 4-H leader. She was selected to be on the state leader’s council. She became a real estate broker and owned the Real Estate West agency. People who dealt with Carol could always depend on her truthfulness and honesty. Carol became very involved in the Lincoln County Historical Society. While she was president, she signed the loan papers for the new Maritime Museum. She often said it was one of the scariest and most rewarding things she was involved in. The First Presbyterian Church was her second family in Newport. She made many of her lifelong friends while sharing the word of God. She served the church in many ways from being a church deacon to working tirelessly at the famous rummage sale. She served many years taking care of the church kitchen. The joy of her worship life was singing in the choir with Forrest. Survived by her children: Kathy (Richard) Thew, Mark (Marie) Jones, Paul (Debbie) Jones, Neal (Sharon) Jones, Dorothy Corum. 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Carol will be remembered at the 10:00 service on September 3rd at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. The family will host a memorial coffee hour open house after the service at 11:15. All are welcome to come and share memories.
