Jonneen Louise Zinn

It is with great sadness the family of Jonneen Louise Zinn announce her passing on February 13th, 2020. Jonneen was born in Elgin, Illinois on March 24, 1939 and passed away at the age of 80 while at the home of chosen family Mike and Stacy Peterson. She peacefully crossed over while holding the hand of her grandson, Jeremy. Jonneen (known by friends as simply Zinn) was loved by many. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Iola. Cherished mother of Lenore and Matthew (and their spouses Mike and Anne). Loving sister of Sunny and the late Bill (wife Louise and children Kim, Rick, Valarie,Becky, Angie, and Leah) Adoring grandmother of Karaissa, Joshua, Jeremy (girlfriend Nikki), Taylor, Liberty, and great-grandmother of Logan. Her grandchildren were quite literally the light of her life. Esteemed aunt of Valarie and Brent Russel (wife Sandy and children Brianna and Jordan) . Cousin to countless others in her home state of Illinois. She claimed Mike and Stacy (children: Brittany, Daniel, Michael) ) as a treasured part of her family. Jonneen, also, had a fond love for these pets in her life: Pal, Job, Brandy, Rusty, The Peterson Pack, and Mr. Boy. Throughout her life she had many different professions but will be remembered for her passion as an artist. Jonneen's prowess as a seamstress was renowned. Every Halloween she would craft stunning costumes. Those of us who donned her stunning, hand-crafted, one-of-kind designs most always won first prize in costume contests. Jonneen also entered many of her own creations-varying from photographs to paintings and other mediums-in the Santa Clara County Fair where she would often walk away with Grand Champion Awards. Upon moving to Toledo, Oregon, Jonneen began quilting and, also, joined the Yaquina Artists Association where she painted, made custom jewelry, and began to work in a new medium; clay. Her ceramic starfish were often sold through a boutique in Scotts Valley, California. Jonneen loved to celebrate all holidays, but her favorite to decorate for was Christmas. While living in San Jose, her Christmas parties were well attended by family and friends. During the Christmas season her house would have at least one Christmas tree in every room-some rooms had two or even three trees. In her later years, Jonneen treasured above all else spending the day teaching her granddaughter, Liberty, and great-grandson, Logan, the techniques of artistry- teaching them both to paint and sculpt. Jonneen lived to play BINGO. She had a passion for fondue from The Bold Knight, Velveeta cheese, and she, quite literally, put peanut butter on everything. Her grandson, Jeremy, lived with her in Toledo, OR, helping her navigate daily obstacles. They spent many an hour playing Tile Rummy and other card games with grandson, Logan, and Jeremy's girlfriend, Nikki. It is because of Jeremy that Jonneen lived comfortably and with doting companionship during her last years. Jonneen was loved. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of life has been cancelled.
