Robert "Bob" N McLean

Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) Retired Robert (Bob) Neal McLean 24 September 1943 – 14 February 2025 Bob passed away on Valentine’s Day while in Spokane Valley to celebrate his mother’s 100th birthday. He was born in Spokane Washington on 24 September 1943. He was fascinated with antique cars and his first car was a model A Ford that he was extremely proud of. Upon graduating from North Central High School, he promptly joined the Army. Bob met the love of his life and forever partner Agnes while stationed at Ft Lewis Washington. They were married on 6 August 1966 and spent 58 loving wonderful adventurous years together. He proudly served his country for 27 years. His career included unaccompanied tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea. He had a variety of assignments to include Hawaii, Ft Lewis Washington and Ft Riley Kansas. As a family we spent seven fabulous years in Garmisch and Wuerzburg Germany. While stationed in Garmisch at the Armed Forces Recreation Center he was in charge of all the food served in the U.S. hotel dining facilities. During this time, we had the opportunity to visit many wonderful countries. While at Wuerzburg Bob was assigned as the Senior Food Service Manager at Headquarters 3rd Infantry Division. Upon his retirement from the military in 1989, he went to work in the diet kitchen at Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma Washington as a cook. After his retirement from the hospital, we moved to our favorite place – the Oregon Coast. He spent many fun hours trolling the beaches for agates. Bob was really not into traditional fitness programs. He got his exercise by going to Fred Meyer's early every morning where he spent an hour walking around the store. During this time he met many wonderful caring people. Bob loved to travel and over the years we made many exciting trips. We visited Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, England, Australia and New Zealand. When on these vacations his favorite thing to do was visit the local zoos. One of his favorites was Tongaroa in Sidney Australia. In recent years we made several trips to Las Vegas for gambling and entertainment. One of his favorite shows was Celine Dion. He is survived by Agnes his wife, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Teneile McLean of Bellevue, Washington, daughter Kari McLean of Phenix City Alabama, Grandsons, Aubry Massey of Crestview Florida and Conner Thometz of Boise Idaho. Also survived by his mother Marie Jones, sister Lonette Kopplin and brother Michael McLean of Spokane Washington and several nieces and nephews.
