Allan Preece

October 24, 1941 ~ January 11, 2021 (age 79)


Allan Preece passed away from cancer, on January 11th at Samaritan Communities Hospital in Newport. Allan was born in Los Angeles, California to Jack and Virginia Preece. Allan served the United State Army as a Morse code operator in Italy for several years.

    After the military, Allan returned to California. While he was working for Sears and Roebuck, he was blessed with his two children Jeffrey and Cari Preece. Allan Retired from Sears and Roebuck after 25 years as a computer programmer.

    In the late 1980’s, Allan’s mother’s health started to decline and he and Virginia went to live with Marilou and Gary Kesselring (Allan’s sister and family). It was soon decided, Allan and Virginia would move to Newport for medical care and the Kesselring’s would soon follow.

    Allan became immersed in the Newport community and volunteered through St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at the Monday night supper, almost every  Monday night  for 15 years, the Yaquina Pacific Railroad Historic Society, and the Yaquina Pacific Railroad model train club in Newport.

    Allan is survived by Marilou and Gary Kesselring (sister), Jeff and Sheila Preece (son), Cari and Chris Boyd (daughter). His grandchildren Alyssa, Kealy, Mackenzie, Kavan, one adorable great grandson Walker, and hundreds he served throughout his life.

    In lieu of flowers, please consider donating or volunteering at the Toledo Yaquina Pacific Railroad Historical Society or the  Monday Night Stone soup supper at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church In Newport.
