Alma J Rariden-Mann

December 8, 1922 ~ June 10, 2022 (age 99)

Alma Jean Rariden-Mann, age 99, was born on December 8, 1922 in Smithwick, South Dakota to Oscar and Katheryn Schnetzky. She had two brothers and two sisters. Jean joined her heavenly family and many friends June 10, 2022. Her family moved to Oregon when she was 13 and Jean married Wesley Rariden, then spent most of her life in the Toledo area. Together 62 years, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family. Wesley preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by their four children, son Joe Rariden (Karen), daughters Katy Martin (Jim), Corinda Gardner (George), and Terese and Gary Mitchell. Her last 7 years were spent in loving care at the home of Terese and Gary Mitchell, where she passed away.

Jean enjoyed many talents and accomplishments. She was a welder at the shipyards during the war, a grocery clerk at Snyders grocery in Toledo, and at Noel’s Market in Siletz, a CNA at Toledo Hospital, and a school bus driver for 27 years at Eddyville and Siletz. After retiring, she volunteered as a dining room hostess at Toledo Elks Lodge, where we was a member of Lady Elks, the Emblem Club & Toledo Elks. Jean also volunteered at the Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.  She loved gardening, sewing, and painting. Her special love of music and dancing, sweet smile, and personality will be remembered by all who knew her. Jean is survived by 11 grand children, 28 great grandchildren, 45 great great grandchildren, and her first great great great grandchild will be born January 1st, 2023, and several nieces and nephews. She was the center of our family—the glue that held us together. Jean married Don Mann in 2007. We celebrated her new happiness. Don passed away in 2014.
