Clifford ‘Cliff’ Lyle Scott February 10, 1942 - December 22, 2019
Cliff Scott passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 22, 2019, an unexpected shock to his family and countless friends.
Cliff was born in Spokane, Washington to Elsie May Smith and Charles Ulysses Scott on February 10, 1942. He attended Moscow High School, Moscow, Idaho. He then joined the Navy and served as a Millwright aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington, touring places like Japan and the Pacific Islands.
He married Diane Blatter and had three daughters. Following his military service, he supported his family by putting his Millwright skills to work at Reynolds Metals in Troutdale, OR. Along his career path he worked at Crown Zellerbach, Scappoose Pole Yard, in Scappoose, OR. Cliff spent many years at the Simpson West Linn Paper Mill, West Linn, OR. When this mill closed, he moved with his wife, Bobbie Scott, to Siletz and began working at Boise-Cascade in Toledo, OR. He worked here until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked as a delivery driver and as a Medical Transport driver for Oregon Coast Transport, where he enjoyed his adventures meeting many new people along his routes.
Cliff loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was very generous with his time and a loyal friend. Cliff loved fishing, camping, and making things with his welding or woodworking skills, gardening, but most of all, making people laugh. At the time of his death, Cliff and his fiancée, Mavis, were looking forward to their plans of traveling the Pacific Northwest and beyond to visit family and explore new places along the way. Sadly, these plans were cut short.
Cliff is survived by his fiancée Mavis Moore; three daughters: Kristi Summers (Ryan); Marci Jackson (Jim Anderson); and Darci Eisele; seven grandchildren: Kerstin Sandoz, Alex Moyer, Aurora Summers, Colton Summers, Tony Jackson, Amber Anderson, Sophie Eisele; niece Connie Wooden. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wesley Scott and sister Charlotte Ehlen; and his previous wife Bobbie Scott.
A Celebration of Life was held in Cliff’s honor at AWPPW Union Hall, 138 NW 1st St., Toledo, Oregon on February 8th, 2020, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
