Forever loved husband, father, grandfather and friend joined his loving wife in heaven on March 3rd 2021 in Siletz Oregon. Jerry was born January 20th 1940 in Portland Oregon. A lifelong resident of Oregon, he grew up on a farm in Garibaldi Oregon. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Marion Louise Illingworth, his parents Helen and Chester Illingworth, his siblings Chesterlea Farrell, Sharon Hughes, and Ronald Illingworth. His legacy will live on in his daughters Ann Illingworth (Bruce Campbell), Paula Illingworth Simpson (Zane), and chosen daughter Lisa Mills (Joe). Numerous grandchildren that he was so proud of Connor, Dalton, Josh, Brooke, Damon, Curtis, and Megan.

Jerry graduated from Neah Kah Nie High school in 1959 where he was one of their star athletes in Football and Basketball. In 1960 he entered the United States Coast Guard and was a weatherman on the US Coast Guard Cutter Northwind. In January of 1963 he married the love of his life Marion Lawrence. After being honorably discharged he attended Portland Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering. From there he became a mechanic and purchased Burlingame Shell Service Station with full automotive repair shop. After several years the family moved to Tigard where he owned Illingworth Shell Station. He was president of the Oregon Gasoline Dealer’s association for many years. Jerry was always a family man and was involved in his daughter’s interests. Helping with camp outs for Camp Fire Girls, involved in the PTA, watching gymnastics meets, and coaching girls’ basketball. After his girls graduated from high school Jerry and Marion moved back to the coast so he could enjoy his favorite activities of hunting, fishing and golfing. Jerry worked for Doug’s Electric and Platt in Newport Oregon. They also owned Illingworth’s Gifts in Newport for almost 20 years. Jerry loved tinkering, from fixing friends and family’s cars, lawnmower, chainsaws etc. to building his beautiful bird houses, wind chimes, and outdoor furniture. He was happiest when his hands were busy and always willing to help a friend.

Jerry was the rock of the family and will be in our hearts forever.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved,
still missed and very dear”
