Gwendolyn Rose Andrews, 91, passed away on May 24, 2020 in Albany, Oregon.
Gwen was born January 3, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to parents Guy Everett and Helen Lucille (Woods) Verley.
Gwen spent her younger years in Grand Island, Nebraska before moving to Corvallis, Oregon at the age of 14 where she attended Corvallis High School. Her favorite activity was roller skating. It was in high school that she was introduced to her future husband by his sister (who was a friend of Gwen’s). Vernon Ross Andrews married Gwen on August 24, 1946. They were blessed with two daughters, Suzanne and Janice. The family moved to Toledo, OR in 1961.
Gwen loved family activities like fishing, traveling, camping, painting, sewing and crafting. She was quite the party planner and played hostess at gatherings like ice cream socials. Her creative spirit and talent led her in 1976 to open her own business, The Gingham Goose. She later designed and marketed her patterns for appliquéd baby quilts and soft sculpture.
Together, Gwen and Vernon would buy houses, fix them up and sell them when there was nothing left to fix. Her favorite place to live was in Maui, Hawaii. The grandchildren were always welcome to visit them every summer. But when that house had all the fixes and upgrades, they decided to move back to Oregon to be close to family. This time, they built their dream house in Cottage Grove.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Vernon, in 1995.
Left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters, Suzanne Huffman (John), Janice Harrison (Gregg); 4 grandchildren, Kirk Linville, Amy (Huffman) Groce, Craig Linville, Jennifer (Huffman) Roberts; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Kirk's children: Austin, Angel, Adrian, Addison, Aurora and Annaliese. Amy's children: Delmar. Jennifer's children: Emily and Alissa. Great Great Grandchild is Amy's Grandchild: Kyler
