Hunting 02

Michael V Phillips

May 14, 1952 ~ August 1, 2021 (age 69)

Michael Vernon Phillips 69, passed away peacefully in his home on 8/1/2021 in Waldport, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Maria, sister Carolyn, brother William (Billy) and two grandsons.

Mike was born on May 14, 1952 to Maudie (Brown) and Alpha Phillips in Jerome, Id. where he grew up on a farm and graduated from Jerome High School in 1970 and where his brother Joe (Sherry) Phillips still resides.

He was a loving devoted husband to his wife and best friend of 43 years Patricia (Patty) Phillips. After his retirement they travelled to Alaska and took a once in a lifetime trip up the East coast. They then sold their home in Boise and put down retirement roots in Waldport, Or. where his sister-in-law Shannon LaPrade also lives.

He would often recant crazy escapades of hunting, fishing and camping with his dad, siblings and cousins.  Favorite hobbies of his included playing baseball, rock collecting, bowling, golfing, poker and Dungeons and Dragons which he would play with best friend of more than 40 years, Ken Vanderboom of Boise, Id.

Michael held many positions in his more than 40 year career in the dairy industry starting with Triangle Youngs in Twin Falls, then continuing to Meadowgold and finally retiring with Darigold in Boise, Id. in 2017.

He was an loving father and had special bonds with each of his daughters and son-in-laws Brandie (Eyad) Hamad of Hillsboro, Or. Marla Cress of Glenns Ferry, Id. and Crystal (Gil) Aguilar of Boise, Id. and he would often say “I fear nothing as I have daughters”.  He enjoyed family get togethers and movie nights with his grandchildren Catherine (Lance) Hamad-Rousey, Donovan (Lina) Hamad, Megan (Will) Irving, Austin and Kayleigh Cress. He loved rockhounding with his grandsons Mateo and Maxxon Aguilar and holiday time with his grandchildren Devanny, Tristan, Mylie, Amiyah, and Michael Phillips of Nampa.  He was blessed with two great granddaughters he called “stunning and exquisite keepers” Carter Jay Hamad-Rousey and Loralei Katherine Irving. At the time of his passing he was eagerly awaiting the birth of his third great granddaughter, Aurora.

He had a great love for his family legacy.  We will miss his hugs, his laugh, his stories, watching him tend to his aero-garden,  and feed the birds while the hummingbirds fly around his head.  He was a great man and we love him so much.

Cremation services were conducted by Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Oregon. He enjoyed the peace that living overlooking the Pacific Ocean gave him and there his ashes will be scattered in a private close family ceremony.
