Phyllis Ruth Roseman was born in Long Beach, CA on April 9, 1928 and passed away on June 4, 2020 in Yachats, OR. She was predeceased by her husband, Rodger Lee Lybarger, and her second oldest son, David Lindsay Lybarger. Her living relatives include Dr. John Lybarger, her oldest son, James Calen Lybarger, her youngest son, and Mary Gibbs, the youngest and her only daughter. Her grandchildren include Nathan Lybarger, Megan Escheman, Ryan Lybarger, Ashley Hoden, Austin Gibbs, and Haylee Gibbs.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always put her family first and loved everyone with all her heart. She was a survivor, she fought cancer 38 years ago for the first time, again three years later, and most recently seven years ago. She loved owls, cats, and the ocean. Her favorite past time was sitting near the ocean, watching and listening to the waves. Phyllis loved to play board games, put puzzles together, and listen to children’s stories. She got her first iPad when she was 82, she played Words with Friends and looked at Facebook every day, often posting her thoughts or sending messages through Messenger to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her last wish was to see the ocean when her health began to fail the final time. We took her to the Oregon coast on Monday, June 1, 2020 and she passed peacefully in a room with an ocean view surrounded by loved ones. We grieve losing her companionship and we celebrate her long life of love, sacrifice, commitment, and passion for her family.
