Ray Marthaller

September 16, 1951 ~ August 9, 2022 (age 70)

Ray was born the 16th of September 1951 in Grays Harbor, WA to Henry and Mary (Connor) Marthaller.  He passed away on the 9th of August 2022 at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Newport, OR from Covid.

Ray grew up in Toledo, OR and graduated from Toledo High School in the class of 1969.  He was active in sports and was a leader in the school.

To those who knew him well knew that he took both his family and friendship very seriously. Both were extremely important to him.

Ray married his first wife Sue Herrmann in 1972 at St Patrick's in Toledo where they lived.  Ray married his second wife Debra Breon in 1983 at home in Siletz, OR, where he lived the rest of his days.

Ray worked at Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Toledo, OR from 1970 until he retired in 2006 where he reached the grade of Machine Tender.  While at Georgia Pacific he helped to develop a new Roll Management System that helped better track rolls of paper and to speed up the process of getting inventory where it needed to be.  He spent many days away from home traveling to other Georgia Pacific Mills in  Alabama and North Carolina.  Some of his co-workers at Toledo called the (Roll Management System) the Ray Marthaller system but it was a team that developed the system.

Ray was interested in computers since the days of Commodore 64.  He had many hours of learning and teaching others about computers. Ray started the first message board in Lincoln County all with the idea to help others learn about computers.  He was known as “Wonkster” by his computer buddies.

Ray’s greatest accomplishment were his sons. Bruce and Brian (Mother, Sue) Robert, Loy and David (Mother, Debbie). His greatest loves were his grandchildren.  Christmas with the grand kids was the highlight of the year.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Katherine Gleason of Tacoma, WA, Betty Robinson of Tacoma, WA, Mary Lou Kuen Gary of Indiana, and son Robert, St Petersburg FL.

Ray is survived by his wife Debbie of Siletz. his ex-wife Sue of Toledo, his children Bruce (Janna) and their children Braden & Trenten all of Siletz, son Brian (Susie) and their children Camryn, Joel, Marise all of Gervais, OR, sons Loy and David, Siletz and his daughter-in-law Geneva and grandson Gabriel of St. Petersburg FL.
