Robert David Shackelton was born January 8, 1953 in Watertown, NY. He passed away on April 28, 2021. He was a devoted family man with a kind heart and a witty sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rebecca Cattorini Shackelton. He has two children Bryan and Jess Shackelton, and daughter-in-law Shelly Shackelton. He also has one grandchild Jack Shackelton. He is survived by two siblings Mary Hickey (Dave) and William Shackelton ( Deborah).

Bob entered the Peace Corps in 1976 serving in Malaysia for 2 years as a sheet metal instructor. This was the beginning of a lifelong love of travel. After returning from the Peace Corps he soon moved to Fernandina Beach where he met the love of his life, “Beck”. Bob married Becky in 1983. The following year they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Bob began his 31 year career with Salt River Project in Fiber Optic Telecommunications. During that time he earned his Bachelor’s degree at The University of Phoenix moving up to Project Manager in his career.

Upon retiring, Bob and Becky moved to the Oregon coast where Bob enjoyed the ocean, fishing, crabbing, eating seafood, and golfing. He also volunteered with the local Democratic Party in Oregon; participating in his passion for politics. He was a self-proclaimed foodie enjoying cooking and grilling. There wasn’t a food he didn’t like!  He loved to help others and made people laugh in any situation. Most importantly though, Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was everything to him. He taught his kids how to have an open mind and treat everybody with kindness. Bob is a strong soul. A kinder, gentler man cannot be found. Bob’s ashes were spread 3 miles off the Oregon Coast out of Depoe Bay Harbor by his immediate family.
