Robert (Bob) Trusty
November 30, 1946 – March 17, 2022
Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer. Historically, wherever Bob lived he volunteered his time and was a selfless steward to the community – whether that was being a street preacher in California in the late 60s, supporting the arts community in Toledo through his photography, or engaging with the Surfrider Foundation. Bob was the coordinator for Newport Chapter of Surfrider Foundation’s Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) Program for the past 5 years. He spent many chilly mornings monitoring water quality at popular recreational beaches in the Newport area. “I think it’s everyone’s right to enjoy nature, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect our Planet,” he would say. He lived a life full of gratitude and giving, paired with an understated but wily sense of humor. His kind spirit was a sparkling light to all who knew him. He never stopped laughing, joking and loving everyone around him.
The family has requested that those who would like to honor Bob, direct donations in Bob’s memory to the Surfrider Foundation. 100% of the donations contributed in Bob Trusty’s name will go to the Surfrider Foundation Newport Chapter.
At his request, his ashes will be scattered at sea. Celebration of Life TBA.
