William Stanley Tropē, Jr.
William left this world peacefully at home on May 27th, 2022, soon following a diagnosis with cancer.
He was born July 19, 1952, in Glens Falls, New York, to William Stanley Tropē, Sr. and Ethel Marie Germain.
He graduated from Corinth Central School in Corinth, New York, in 1971 and Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, in 1979 with a Bachelor’s in Business Adminstration Accounting.
William enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971 stationed in Germany where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Paymaster, Budget Accountant and Dispersing Accounting Specialist. Upon his honorable discharge, Bill enlisted in the reserves.
While attending university, Bill met and married Shirley Smith in Spokane. He gained a stepdaughter, Rachelle, and they had their son, Nick. After moving to Newport to open his practice, Bill and Shirley added a daughter, Alaina, to their family. After divorcing, Bill met and married Shelley Lynn Lawrence on May 5th, 2001, at Olalla Valley Golf Course in Toledo Oregon.
Bill was a Certified Public Accountant in private practice in Newport for 43 years.
He was an avid sportsman winning numerous awards for wrestling, boxing, baseball and golf.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Shelley Tropē of Eddyville, son Nicholas Tropē of Salem, daughter Alaina Chytka of Covallis, step daughter Rachelle Leffler of Portland, brother Lee Tropē of Eugene and sister Linda Zagarow of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Services will be held Saturday, June 25th, 2pm at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Newport Samaritan Hospice.
