Bateman Funeral Home is family owned with a philosophy of providing the best service, facilities and care at the most reasonable price. Severing all Oregon coastal and surrounding communities, Bateman Funeral Home was founded in 1914 by the Bateman family, and some of the Bateman family members continue to reside in Lincoln County. Bateman Funeral Home is unique in the fact that Bateman operates the only certified “on-site” crematories with certified technicians in Lincoln County. This assures no out of town transport costs and the highest private professional standards available.

Bateman Funeral Home was founded in 1914 by the Bateman family who owned and operated it until brothers Gene and Dene Bateman semi-retired in 1999. In 2010, two Oregon native Funeral Directors, both having homes on the Oregon coast and longtime friends of the Bateman family, purchased the businesses from the out of state operators. Bateman continues to be a private family owned company  Their staff resides in both the Newport and Lincoln City areas and are available to assist 24 hours a day.

General Manager of Bateman Funeral Home, Brian Norris is a licensed funeral director and celebrant who resides in Newport with his family. Brian is involved in the community as a member Yaquina Toastmasters Club, a member of the American Legion and the Lincoln County Historical Society. He is involved with the City of Newport Parks and Recreation Committee, is on the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce board of directors and is a member of the board of directors for the Oregon Funeral Directors Association. Brian's former business partner is also a licensed funeral director and a long-time Oregon Coast native, born and raised in Tillamook County.

Bateman Funeral Home is family owned and operated. Located in Newport, Oregon Bateman has a chapel and reception areas, and operate the only two certified "on-site" cremation centers in Lincoln County. While other funeral homes are required to transport to a third party crematory operator and have little control over when the cremation takes place or when the ashes are returned to you, Bateman Funeral Home can assure no out of town transport costs and your loved one does not leave their care. With certified crematory operators, Bateman assures the highest possible standards right here in the Lincoln County community.

 Bateman Funeral Home offers a wide variety of services including burial, cremation and pre-arrangement services. Custom designed personalized funeral and memorial services are Bateman Funeral Homes’ specialty. The funeral home believes that a memorial or funeral service should be a time to pay tribute and celebrate one's life at the same time. Each person has lived their own life individually and each person's funeral or memorial service can and should reflect that. When properly and appropriately designed, a personalized funeral or memorial service is a very meaningful and powerful experience.

Brian's management has continued with the Bateman family legacy of giving back to the community as a 53-year member of the Newport Chamber of Commerce as well as a lifetime Booster for Newport High School. Bateman Funeral Home has awarded scholarships amounting to over $30,000 to local seniors in Lincoln County to pursue higher education as well as participated in many other sponsorships, fundraisers and charities in the community.
